Cranberry Apple Crisp

This cranberry apple crisp recipe has been a favorite for several years. I like it because it is a nice change of pace from regular apple crisp. I served it at a teacher’s dinner one year and had to bring 8 copies of the recipe the next day! The cranberry sauce adds a nice tart flavor and a pretty rosy color.

If you like apples and cranberries, you should definitely try this recipe. Sometimes I live on the wild side and double the topping. Then it is really sinful. Don’t forget the vanilla ice cream!

Cranberry Apple Crisp

1 can whole berry cranberry sauce
1/2- 3/4 cup sugar
2 Tbsp flour
6-7 apples, peeled and sliced
1/3 cup chopped nuts
1 cup oats
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup flour
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 cup melted butter
Combine cranberry sauce, sugar, and flour in a large bowl. Add apples and toss to coat. Pour into a casserole dish or 9×13″ pan. Mix remaining ingredients till crumbly; spread over the top. Bake at 375° for 35-40 minutes. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
