Going Green! (I hope it lasts.)

I hope that all of you had a wonderful Memorial Day. We sure did! Hubbie my four boys worked hard in the yard planting trees, bushes, and raspberry plants that my parents brought down from their garden. I worked hard in the house cooking and cleaning for a neighborhood BBQ. We had about 60 people over and it was so much fun! The weather was glorious! We were all exhausted by the end of the day and hit the sack really early. So nice.

I haven't posted any projects for a few days, but I promise I will be better this week. Here is a quickie that anyone could do.

I am a notorious plant killer. Houseplants never survive very long around here. Heck, we even killed off the zucchini in our garden last year. Who does that? It's not that I don't love plants, because I do. (Except for Russian Olive trees because I am highly allergic and they make my life miserable. Hate them.) I love walking into friend's houses that are filled with vibrant and growing plants. I love how fresh plants make a house look and feel.

I decided that since my youngest is five and out of the stick your fingers in all the pots and spill/eat/throw the dirt stage, it was about time I gave houseplants a try again. So I picked these little guys up at Lowe's:
Knew I needed a pot. Went yardsale-ing with my friend and stumbled across this:It was 75ยข!

Pulled out the flowers, gave it a few coats of black spray paint, and voila! My new plant:I just love using other people's junk!

I'm still on the lookout for a container for my other plant, and when I find one, you guys will be the first to hear about it! (I just hope I can keep it alive that long!) :)
