Amazing Steak Marinade

Spring has finally sprung here in Utah, and I am beyond thrilled! Of course I know it will snow again, it always does. :(
But I'm trying not to think about that, because the weather this week has been glorious. Today it might actually get up to 70°, which is heaven after five and a half  long months of winter. Man I love spring! My poor husband is having to park in the driveway because his side of the garage is filled with all my spray paint projects. LOL!

Another thing I love about spring (besides being able to spray paint again), is that we can bust out the BBQ grill. Wes does the grilling, so it's nice to have a break from cooking. And everything just tastes better when you can eat it outside while lounging on a deck. Am I right or am I right?

I am actually a grilled chicken girl, and I only enjoy steak if it is amazingly tender and delicious. Which doesn't happen very often. And let me tell you that this was the best steak I've had in ages! Definitely the best steak that's ever come off our grill. It rivals the $30 a plate steak that I've had at restaurants. I'm sure the cut of meat had something to do with it, but the marinade was also to die for. I found it on Allrecipes and gave it a try because it had so many great reviews. I am soooo glad I did! We had a pretty quiet dinner, because all of us were busy stuffing our faces. Don't be put off by the large quantity of basil. I thought it was strange too, but trust me, it is not overpowering. This steak is seriously divine!!
steak marinade-recipe

Amazing Steak Marinade

1/3 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup oil
1/3 cup lemon juice
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 Tbsp garlic powder
3 Tbsp. dried basil
1 1/2 tsp parsley
1 tsp pepper
1 tsp dry minced garlic
3-5# Beef Loin Top Sirloin Steak
Combine all ingredients and pour over steak in an airtight container of your choice. Refrigerate for at least one hour, or overnight. Grill steak. We like it best rare-medium rare. Enjoy!

  2. Thanks for sharing that recipe, Kara. I usually opt for chicken when we (he) is grilling out too. Steaks can be "iffy" and chicken is cheaper anyway. I am pinning to my recipe board so I won't forget the recipe.

  6. You can't really complain about the past winter. How many snow days did we have? A dozen? It really was mild, right?
    The steak looks delish. We started barbecuing last night. Looks like I'll put this on the list of things to try…soon!!!

    • We live in the foothills, so we get more snow than the valley, but you're right–it was a mild winter. And I am soooo glad! (It is snowing today though, bummer.)
