Kitchen Decor– Painted Knife Block

A couple of years ago I gave my knife block a DIY makeover with some sandpaper, a little bit of paint, and a vinyl decal. It went from plain old ugly stained wood to this:

So I busted out the sandpaper, paint, and vinyl again.  For the accent color in my kitchen, I am using a light aqua blue color. I bought a can of latex paint for some shelves I’m going to build, so I used it on my knife block. And voila, it has a totally new look!

I love how cheery and bright this color is. (Although it’s a little more subdued than the photos show.)

  1. I love the blue that you chose, and the bracket shape with that C is perfect. :)

  2. What a great and useful way to add a splash of color to your kitchen! The color you picked is so fun!

  3. I’ve got to say this is a different style of kitchen accessory! Even though it’s completely different I think that it is in a good way! It stands out and that is what you want you Kitchen Decor to do.

  4. Did you have to use any top coating to protect it or just paint?? I love this!
