Hey Kara, love the new blog layout! Just want to let you know though that the html code you have listed for your blog buttons only results in a link with the words Creations by Kara, but no actual button. I tried to switch it out from your old button I had listed on my site, but it's not working. I've tried both your homepage button as well as the Look What I Made button, same result for both.

In fact, I think since html works in this thing, I might be able to copy/paste for you to see what it turns out like.

Thanks Katie. A few people are having trouble, so I'm going to have to have my computer savvy hubbie check it out. Hopefully he can get to it soon!

  2. This was the same issue I had this am. Glad it isn't just me as I was feeling a bit silly. Thanks for an inspiring blog!

My brother gave me an elaborately framed mirror (carved wooden frame) he salvaged. I like the frame but the finish is very tired. I recall a tv tutorial on painting (gold or metallic) then 2nd coat of brown or black and rubbing off. Have you done something like that? can you help with instrcutions or paint names? Thanks so much! I hate for this mirror to end up in the trash again! I can send a photo if you like.

Kara, I found your baby rag quilt tutorial on your website, but it doesn't do anything when I click on the x's. Please help as I just love this pattern and I'm new at quilting. I'm having my first grandaughter and want to make this pattern for her. I also bought a computerized embroidery maching and thought I would do some embroidering on some of the blocks. Do you think it would look alright and if so, how should i do the pattern to look good for the layout of it. I have 1 plain color material and 1 patterned material and then the flannel for the back to match the other colors. I also wondered how I would go about cutting the blocks out with a rotary cutter and ruler and ruler pad. Can I double the fabric over to cut 2 blocks at a time? Sure do appreciate all the information you can give me! I don't get any sound on my computer either so any extra information I can get sure would help me! I'm excited about doing this baby rag quilt! Thanks so much! Can call me at 585-374-5023 if want to. Thanks again!

Hi Kara! I loved your pumpkin craft that you made from the pages of an old book. I wanted to know if I could post this craft tutorial in our MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) Newsletter this month? Thanks!

Loved the pumpkin book idea!! I do have one question. How do I keep the pages fanned apart. I am having a little problem with that.

HI, I AM TRYING TO DO THE CAKE BITES. WHEN YOU SAY THAT I CAN REPLACE THE FROSTING BY A STORE BOUGHT FROSTING, YOU DO NOT GIVE THE QUANTITY. THE ONE T I BOUGHT IS BETTY CROCKER WHIPPED CREAM CHEESE 340 G. WOULD THAT BE TOO MUCH FOR MY PECAN CAKE? HOPE TO GET AN ANSWER BEFORE THE PARTY ON DEC. 31TH. RACHEL

You talk alot abou the use of vinyl lettering but I have no idea how to make them, or where to buy the vinyl. I have a "Cricket" machine and am wondering if vinyl cames in sheets that can be cut out.
Thanks. Love the idea's, as I like to craft , and am very cheap ,no I mean thrifty.

  18. Sharon says:

I love the rag quilt and your tutorial – very easy. Do I need to pre-wash the flannel before I cut the squares?

    • Kara says:

Hi Sharon. Yes, I would recommend washing the flannel first. I always wash and dry fabric before doing sewing projects to prevent strange shrinkage of the seams later on. Good luck!

Hello…looking to try the pull cheesy bacon apart bread…do you really use 24 of the Rhodes rolls? Seems like it wouldn't fit in the pan. Thanks for the great site.
