Cooking Supplies

Whether you love to cook or hate it, the job is much easier when you have the right tools! Here are some of my favorite kitchen products. Some of them I’ve had for years, others are new finds that I can’t live without. All of them make my job much more enjoyable. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. (affiliate links below)

Cookie Baking Supplies

1-Cuisinart 7-Speed Hand Mixer: I’ve had this mixer for a few years, and I love it, it is very sturdy! When you first turn it on, it starts slow so your ingredients don’t end up all over the counter or your clothes. It is powerful enough to mix cookie dough (but I just use it to cream my ingredients so my dough doesn’t get over-mixed.) And it has a swivel cord which is handy for right or left handed use. It also comes with a whisk which is awesome for beating cream and egg whites.

2-Stainless Steel Cookie Scoop: It is important to make your cookies all the same size so they bake evenly, and this scoop is perfect for that! Sometimes I just scoop and drop right onto the sheet, sometimes I scoop and then roll the dough into balls. And of course it’s dishwasher safe!

3-Nordic Ware Cookie Sheet/ Jelly Roll Pan: I have at least four of these pans, and I think every kitchen should have them. They are great for cookies, sheet cakes, baking chicken, and so much more. They are dishwasher safe, but I have learned that washing them by hand prevents that nasty build up that cookie sheets get. I love these big pans!

4- Non-Stick Silicone Baking Mat: I bought these gems a couple years ago, and I wish I would have gotten them years ago. Life changing people! Nothing sticks to them. Nothing! I never make cookies without them. They make clean-up so much easier! I also use mine in place of waxed paper to  drop hot unbaked cookies onto. You will love them.

5-OXO 6-Piece Measuring Cup Set: Every cook needs a good set of measuring cups. (or two or three). I like these because it is easy to read the measurements, and the set includes a 2/3 cup measuring cup. Some don’t and that bugs me. They come with a ring that you can use or take off. They are durable and dishwasher safe.

Favorite Cooking Tools

1- Pyrex Glass 9 x 13 inch pan: I have at least 4 of these, and I love them! Food cooks evenly and absorbs no odors. I love cooking with glass because you can check to see if the bottom of the food is done. From lasagna to sweet and sour chicken, I use these glass pans all the time!

2-Stay or Go 6-Quart Slow Cooker: I have three crock pots, but this one is my favorite. It cooks great, and it’s easy to clean (about as easy as my non-stick crock pot.) It is large enough that I can fit enough food for my whole family, and I like that it is wide instead of tall and narrow. But the best thing about it? If you need to transport food to a potluck,  you can snap the lid on and it WILL NOT SPILL IN THE CAR! Having experienced the nasty chore of cleaning up soup from the car floor, this is epic for me.

3- Waterproof Digital Meat Thermometer: Before I had an awesome meat thermometer, I overcooked chicken all the time. Hello, e-coli. It’s scary. But now I can serve tender, juicy chicken and not have to worry if it is safe or not. I even use it to check the chicken in my crock pot. Because no one likes rubbery chicken. And yes, you can use it for pork and beef as well. So handy, and it is so affordable. Worth every penny!

4-CorningWare Casserole Dishes: I have several casserole dishes, but I like these because 1- They are white and they are pretty. 2- They have straight sides, so it’s easier to layer things evenly. 3- The glass lid is great for when you need to cover a dish halfway through cooking. Much easier to get off and on than aluminum foil! The plastic lid is great for leftovers.

Muffin Supplies

1-OXO 6-Piece Measuring Cup Set: You can’t do any baking without a good set of measuring cups!  I like these because they are sturdy, and it is easy to read the measurements,. The set includes a 2/3 cup measuring cup, and that is very handy. They come with a ring that you can use or take off.

2- 2oz Stainless Steel Scoop: I love using a scoop to measure my muffin batter into the pans. It doesn’t drip everywhere, and I can make sure all my muffins are the same size. This scoop holds about 1/4 cup, which is just perfect for most recipes. Great for cupcakes too!

3- Nonstick 12-Cup Muffin Pan: I just bought a set of 3 of these muffin pans last year, and I love them! Some non-stick pans that I’ve tried burn the muffins on the bottom before the insides are done. Not these ones. The muffins are browned perfectly, and they pop out like a charm.  I also like that they have an extra large edge that you can grab onto to when you take them out of the oven. And they are so affordable!

4- 16″ x 12″ Cooling Rack : If you don’t have a large grid cooling rack, you need to get one. The first set of cooling racks I owned just had horizontal lines, and my cookies were always sliding through the cracks. I love this large size, because you can dump out an entire pan of muffins onto one cooling rack. Perfect!
