Amidst running from soccer to football games, updating our adoption file for the new agency we will be working with, making hair bows to fill my etsy store, and trying to keep my family clean and fed, I am trying to decorate my house for fall. I found these hurricane vases on the Ballard Designs website last year.
Loved them! They wanted $59 for them. Not so much love anymore. 🙁
This year I decided I could make my own hurricane vase. It turned out to be one of the quickest projects I have ever made. Love it when that happens!
Here is the lowdown:
One hurricane vase from DI: $2
One candle from DI: $1
Jute that I already had: free
One package of leaves: $1
One bowl of acorns collected from the park with my 5 year old son: FREE (and lots of fun)
My $4 Ballard Knock-Off:
All I did was attach the leaves to the candle with a tiny bit of hot glue, then tied a piece of jute around them. Placed the candle in the jar and added the acorns. (Some of them needed their hats glued on.)
The hardest (if you could call it hard) part of this project was gathering the acorns. My son had so much fun that it was totally worth it!!!
