Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all had a super weekend. We had a busy weekend at our house and got to cross off several chores on our never ending “To Do” list. The biggest one was planting the garden. Hooray!! It is so nice to have that finished. I’m not a big gardener, but I enjoy the fresh produce, so we continue to have a garden every year. Luckily my boys are old enough now that I can make them do the work. 🙂
Another project that I finally completed was the desk area in our kitchen. I’ve actually had it 95% done for a few weeks. All I needed to do was fill some holes in the wall. I could not for the life of me find the spackling! I searched everywhere with no luck. This weekend it turned up in a place that I swear I’d checked at least three times. Please tell me that happens to you too. I hope I’m not the only crazy one!
Anyway. . . This is what the desk area looked like before I started the transformation:
Actually the shelf had stuff on it, but I forgot to take a photo at that point. I have never liked this area. It is the catch all for all the piles of junk that no one wants to put away. And the shelf was centered wrong and it bugged the heck outta me. I decided to start from scratch and go for a totally new look.
I used things I had in my house, picked up at the thrift store, or bought at the dollar store. The entire project cost less than $20. Maybe less than $15. I’m not sure, I need to do the math. I’m not fond of math, so I always put that part off till the end. All I know is that it was cheap!
Here is my newly re-vamped desk area:
Here is a closer shot:
I still think it needs a pop of color, so I’m planning on replacing the candles. And probably adding vinyl lettering beneath the shelf. But I love it sooooo much more now. What do you think?
Tomorrow I will show you all the nitty gritty details of how I transformed each item. Just in case you happen to be interested. 🙂
