Now that I have a new baby, blogging has kinda taken a back seat. Sorry I missed putting up the link party yesterday. We’ve had family in town and I have had zero computer time. It’s amazing how much time such a small person requires! Especially when they are so cute and cuddly that you can’t help sitting and just snuggling them. Some days if all I can do is get dinner on the table I feel like a success.
Other days, I do manage to get a couple of things done. Besides laundry and housekeeping that is. 😉 We wanted to give Rachel’s birth mother something that would let her know how much we appreciate her sacrifice. You can never re-pay a gift like that, but we wanted to do something. One of the ideas I came up with was a little photo album that she could put Rachel’s pictures in.
I found this one at the Dollar Store:
The outside was actually pretty cute already, but the inside pages were just blank chipboard.
So I untied the ribbon and covered the outside and all the pages with coordinating scrapbook paper. I wanted it to be a documentation of Rachel’s first year, so on each page, I labeled “One month, two months. . . etc.”
Then I added her picture on the front and tied everything back together. Each month we will take a picture of Rachel and send it to her birth mom. All she has to do is stick it on the correct page. At the end of the year, she will have a complete album showing how Rachel has grown. Here it is all decorated:
We used it as a birth mother gift, but wouldn’t it be perfect for grandparents? I also thought it would be fun to do it for an older child, and instead of age do grades K-12. There are so many possibilities! I decorated mine very simply, but you could embellish it as much as you like. Such a fun project, and it only cost me $1, because I used paper that I already had. 🙂
