My “Good Enough Already” Spring Mantel

DIY-decorating the mantelI am a perfectionist by nature. This can be a good thing. But it can also be a bad thing. Like in the case of my spring mantel for example. I started working on it back in March. I totally planned on having it finished by the beginning of April. But I have tweaked it at least five hundred times. I’ve been pulling things out and making new projects to replace them. Then putting them back. And repeating the process. Aaaagh! Why am I so crazy?
Now that Easter is two days away, I realized that I just need to be finished with my mantel decorating and move on. It’s not perfect, but it is good enough.

Here’s what I love about it:
–My Easter Egg Banner–Apparently you guys love it too. I have received so many nice comments about it and several of you have made your own version. That just makes me giddy!
-My DIY cherry blossoms— Who knew a few sticks and some recycled tissue paper could be so beautiful? And I love the pitcher that I bough at Tai Pan trading. . . for 5 bucks!
-My trash to treasure Eggs on Candlesticks— That color of blue just always makes me feel happy. 🙂
-The wreath I bought on clearance at Joann’s a couple years ago.
-My DIY chippy candlesticks and candles– I’ll be sharing that project tomorrow.
-That it is painted WHITE!

Here’s what’s buggin’ me:
-It needs some greenery. Maybe to the left of the wreath/door, and some on the lower shelf.
-The candles wood look better if they were different heights. I tried raising one with books, but the ledge is so narrow that they didn’t fit.
-My pink plate needs a bunny silhouette (or something) on it in vinyl.
-These little beads would look better if the colors were layered:
easter mantel-diyYou perfectionists out there are probably noticing more things that I could improve on. 😉
Feel free to let me know any ideas you have. I’ll try to use them. . .  next year!

I think THIS is perfection! I absolutely adore it. It is calm, clean and serene. We are always so much for critical of ourselves, aren’t we? Although, I have to admit that I am the same way. I am always rearranging, then putting things back the way they were…..always scheming, as my husband would say:)
HAPPY EASTER and enjoy your beautiful mantel!!!

I think that it’s lovely just the way it is. Looks clean and crisp like a spring morning. I especially like the cherry blossoms and the wreath!
