Remember back in February when I mentioned that I got to meet THE Pioneer Woman at the Rootstech conference? What, you don’t remember? I barely remember it either. It was ages ago. But it took for-stinkin-ever for them to actually e-mail the photo back to me. I even e-mailed and asked what was up. But I never heard back, so I just gave up hope. I figured I would never get my photo back. At first I was mad, then I was sad, and then moved on and forgot about it. And then two months later, it showed up in my inbox. Crazy right?
It was pretty cool meeting Ree. She was one of the very first blogs I ever discovered, and I loved her from day one. She is the nicest lady in real life! It is all because of my awesome husband that I got to meet her at all. He was attending Rootstech for work, and found out she would be speaking there. So he bought me a morning pass just so I could come listen to her and meet her afterwards.
Then after the class, we were told that only a few select ticket holders could meet her. I was pretty bummed. After all, I had to get a babysitter, pay for a ticket, and drive an hour. My husband was disappointed for me, and wanted to find some way to make it happen.
As he was walking me out to my car, he saw a cluster of people, and said we should go check it out. Sure enough, it was a line of people waiting to see the Pioneer Woman. We’d already been told no, and I didn’t want to make a pain of myself, so I assured him that it was fine, and that I could go. At least I got to hear her speak. But he was determined. So he started walking over, and saw the very lady that had informed us that only “select guest” were invited. To my surprise, as soon as she saw him, she started smiling and waving us over.
She said, “I’m so glad to see you! They told me they changed the rules, and anyone can see her. They’re about to close the line, but I’ll let you in.”
So because of my husbands never give up attitude, I got to meet one of my favorite bloggers of all time. And she signed my cookbook!
Moral of the story — Marry an awesome husband! oh, and Never give up. 🙂
