I got back this morning from my weekend at the Casual Blogger Conference. I had an incredible time, and I will share more fun details tomorrow. 🙂
I met so many amazing women. Women who I have loved and admired in the blogging world, but never met fact to face. I got to know them on a more personal level, and it was remarkable. I think we assume that all the other bloggers except us have perfectly clean houses that are decorated beautifully, are always dressed nicely, and have great marriages and happy children. We all show our best face to the blogging community, and that is what we see.
At the conference, I was reminded again that all women have struggles. I met women dealing with infertility. Depression. Miscarriage. Unhappy marriages. Financial struggles. Children with disabilities. Loneliness. It made me love them even more. We are all dealing with trials of one kind or another. It was a wonderful feeling to connect with other bloggers and know they are just like me. We are all doing the best we can with what we have been given, both good and bad. We all need to feel understood and supported. That’s what I love so much about the blogging community.
I hope that if we are tempted to judge someone else, leave a snarky comment, or say something unkind about another person, we will remember these wise words from one of my very favorite ladies, Marjorie Hinkley: “Be kind. Everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.” So true.
