- 32 oz bag of cubed frozen hash brown potatoes, thawed
- 1 ¾ cups half & half cream
- 1 ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 2 cup grated cheddar cheese
Let the hash browns thaw for several hours in the fridge, or for 2-3 hours at room temperature.
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 9x13" pan with cooking spray.
Spread the hash browns in the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle the salt and pepper evenly over the top of the potatoes, then add the half and half.
Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake 350° for 45-55 minutes, or until the edges are bubbly and most of the liquid has evaporated.
Sprinkle the cheese over the top, replace the foil and bake for about 5 minutes, or until the cheese melts.
- If you forget to thaw the hash browns, no worries. Just increase the cooking time for a few minutes.
- Instead of hash browns, you can use 2 pounds of russet potatoes. Simply peel or scrub them and cut into cubes, slices, or strips.
- For the best melty, gooey cheese, use freshly grated cheese. The preshredded cheese is coated with powder, so it doesn't melt quite as well.
