How to Cook Broccoli Without a Steamer

This stovetop method for steaming broccoli doesn't require any fancy gadgets. Bright green broccoli, seasoned to perfection in just minutes!

Ingredients
  

  • 8 ounces fresh broccoli florets about 4 cups
  • 1-2 cups water
  • 2 tsp salted butter
  • 2 tsp fresh lemon juice
  • ½ tsp garlic salt more or less
  • ¼ tsp ground black pepper

Instructions
 

  • Wash and cut the broccoli into small florets.
  • Add about 1/2 to 1 inch of water to the bottom of a pot or saucepan . Bring to a boil.
  • Add the broccoli and cover the pan with a lid. Cook for 4-5 minutes over medium heat, or until broccoli is crisp tender.
  • Drain well, put the broccoli back in the pan, and turn heat to low. Shake until the water evaporates.
  • Add butter; stir til melted. Sprinkle with lemon juice and seasonings, stirring so the broccoli is evenly coated.
  • Serve hot.

Notes

To steam in the microwave, place the broccoli in a glass bowl with a few tablespoons of water. Cover with plastic wrap, leaving a vent. Microwave for 3-4 minutes.
