- 1 ¾ cups flour
- ⅓ cup sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- 5 Tbsp cold butter or margarine cubed
- ½ cup mini chocolate chips
- ½ cup plus 2 Tbsp orange juice Sometimes I have to add a little more
- 2 tsp grated orange peel
- Milk and sugar for tops optional
Cut butter into dry ingredients till coarse crumbs form. Stir in chocolate chips.
Mix in orange peel and enough orange juice till dough is just moistened.
Pat or roll to 1/2" thick on a lightly floured counter. Cut into eight pieces with a biscuit cutter and place on cookie sheet.
If desired, brush tops with milk and sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 400 degrees for about 12 minutes.
- If you really wanted to get fancy, you could mix up a little bit of glaze with OJ and powdered sugar and drizzle it over the tops.
- I like these best warm when the chocolate is still gooey. If you have any leftovers, warm them in the microwave for a few seconds.
