It is the first day of September. You know what that means?
It means I can now decorate for FALL! Hooray!
I mean I love summer and all. Love it. But it's really not all that fun to decorate for. You've got the 4th of July, but besides that. . . nothing.
Fall on the other hand is awesome for decorating. The fun textures. The leaves. The lovely colors. And best of all–the PUMPKINS. I don't know why exactly, but I'm crazy for pumpkins. Tall pumpkins, short round pumpkins, orange pumpkins, white pumpkins, heck even square pumpkins. I love them all.
I love coming up with new ways to decorate with pumpkins. A couple years ago, I saw some framed fruit at The Rachel Berry Blog. Thought it was awesome. It's been bookmarked ever since. I finally got around to using her idea. Thanks Rachel! Instead of using lemons or apples, I used a pumpkin.

I found mine at the dollar store last year. I cut off the back third of it so I'd have a flat surface. Then I added just a little bit of orange spray paint to spruce up the color a little. Then I rubbed it down with brown ink. (I just used an ink pad.) Pulled a frame from my stash and spray painted it with Krylon black satin. Attached some scrapbook paper to the glass, and glued my pumpkin to the front. Easy peasy! I thought it needed a little something, so I added a ribbon to the stem.
It looks stinkin' cute sitting on my entry table against my apothecary lamp.
Now I just need to fill the rest of the table.

Love it Kara! I love that you spruced up the color with paint. I never think of stuff like that.

Amy
Interesting idea, sure is one perfect decor for the coming Halloween season! Very nice that the pumpkin is not flat at all, like its 3D. It seems easy to make, sure would be a great activity with kids during weekends.
I absolutely love your lamp! The pumpkin is cute too.
I want to do this! Was it really hard to saw off part of the pumpkin, or is just styrofoam or something?
This is perfect for the holiday coming up! I love this idea. Super cute! I'd love for you to share this at Show & Share–
