Get rid of dry flaky skin with this Cucumber Mint Sugar Scrub. Makes a great gift and only takes a few minutes to make!

I tried homemade sugar scrubs for the first time last year, and now I’m addicted. They are perfect for combating the dry, flaky skin that always used to plague me every winter. Not anymore, I keep a little glass jar with a plastic lid in my shower and use it at least a couple times a week. My skin feels so much better!

Cucumber Mint Sugar Scrub helps get rid of dry flaky skin. It is easy to make and smells fantastic!

I’ve made orange and lime sugar scrub in the past, but this cucumber mint sugar scrub is a new favorite. There’s a reason why people are always placing slices of cucumbers on their puffy eyes. Cucumbers are full of antioxidants, and are very soothing to the skin. I figured if it’s good for the eyes, it’s gotta be good for the rest of your skin as well. 🙂

Cucumber Mint Sugar Scrub Recipe - this DIY sugar scrub makes great gifts!

Soften and soothe your skin with this Cucumber Mint Sugar Scrub. It is easy to make. Sugar scrub makes a great gift!
I love the invigorating scent of peppermint, so I decided to add some peppermint essential oil to this sugar scrub. I think peppermint goes just perfectly with the green color of the cucumbers. It smells so clean and fresh!

Make your own Cucumber Mint Sugar Scrub at home. An easy recipe that will help keep your skin soft.

Because of the cucumber in this recipe, it will last longer if stored in the refrigerator. It thickens up quite a bit, but it still works just fine. If you want, you can take it out a few minutes before you want to use it so it will soften up a bit. I kept mine at room temperature, and it lasted over a week. It’s a refreshing way to start the day!

Author:
Ingredients
  • 1/4 cucumber, unpeeled (about 4 slices)
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 2 Tbsp coconut oil, softened
  • 8-10 drops peppermint essential oil
Instructions
  1. Puree cucumber till all the skin is in tiny flecks. Add the sugar and coconut oil and blend till oil is absorbed. Stir in peppermint oil. Store in an airtight container.
  2. Because of the fresh cucumber, it is best to store this sugar scrub in the refrigerator. You can just scoop out what I'll need into a little plastic bowl a few minutes before you're going to use it.

I can’t even tell you how fabulous this stuff smells. And I know you’ll love how soft it makes your skin feel! One word of caution – as with all sugar scrubs, the oil can make the shower floor a tad bit slippery, so be careful. (No bustin’ out the dance moves!)

This simple cucumber mint sugar scrub smells fantastic, and helps soften up dry itchy skin. An invigorating sugar scrub recipe.

Comments

  1. Can we skip peppermint oil

  2. Is there a different oil to use instead of coconut? My husband is allergic to coconuts.

  3. I’ve been looking for something to do with my extra cucumbers from my garden. This is perfect.

  4. Can you use this on your face?

  5. I think that insted of coconut oil you can use Johnsson Baby oil

    • I love using coconut oil because it’s all natural and has healing properties, but I guess that’s just a matter of preference. Baby oil might work, but would make the sugar scrub much runnier, so you would need to adjust the amount. I’d definitely use unscented.

  6. What if I don’t have coconut oil? Is there other oil I could use?

    • I don’t know of another oil that works like coconut oil for beauty products. I definitely wouldn’t use a cooking oil, but there might be another oil that works. You could try it in a small quantity and see. Good luck!

    • Lauren Miller says:

If I wanted to make this as a Christmas present for 12 people, how much of each Ingredient would I need?

    • It makes enough for about two of the tiny mason jars, so you would need to multiply the recipe by 6.

    • Jojoba, olive, or almond. Love your recipe btw.

  7. Can I use another oil if I don’t have coconut oil?

  8. Since no preservatives have been used and you’re using fresh cucumbers, how long will this last before going bad and developing mold?

    • I kept mine at room temperature for over a week and it was fine. I think it would last at least twice that long if stored in the refrigerator.

  9. Shay Clark says:

Can I use lemon extract instead of the peppermint oil?

    • You could use lemon essential oil, but not lemon extract. Extract contains alcohol, which dries out the skin, and may also dry out the sugar scrub.
