DIY Project-Bathroom Towel Hooks

So, I’ve mentioned a few times that I have had some serious towel trouble in our master bathroom. Checked every store we could think of, and COULD NOT find a towel rack that would hold two towels and still fit on our tiny wall.
Came up with the perfect solution. Hooks mounted on a board.

Couldn’t find one anywhere that matched our decor and was the right size.
Decided to make my own, like I did in my boy’s bathroom. Found a perfect board at the thrift store. It was $2 and had a lovely routed edge. Perfect! I brought it home. Sanded it. Wiped it off. Gave it two coats of spray paint. Let it dry overnight. Sanded the edges to distress it, and rubbed it down with stain. It looked beautiful! Then I spent an hour and a half measuring and drilling all the holes for the hooks and the mounting screws. Went up to my bathroom to install it.
Discovered that IT WAS WARPED AND WOULD NOT WORK!
Sat down on the bathroom floor and cried. Then swore. I was so darn mad!

I was still swearing in my mind when my friend Cindy called to let me know about the neighbor’s yard sale. I ran right over and bought a few things. Felt a little better. Then my hubbie came home from scout camp and hung my medicine cabinet and light fixture. Hooray! Started stewing about my stinkin’ lack of towel rack, and tried to come up with a solution.

Then I remembered a long frame I had seen at the yard sale. Thought it might work for my towels. Left hubbie working in the bathroom and ran over again. Bought it for $1.  I had to remove the glass, sand it, and give it a couple coats of espresso spray paint.  I was so excited I forgot to take a before picture. I attached it to the wall, then hung three hooks inside.

Here is my new DIY towel rack.

It cost a total of $14. Half the price of an oil rubbed bronze towel rack! It’s totally unconventional, but it is really growing on me.

Hi there – how wide did you set the hooks apart? I’m looking to do something similar in my bathroom, but everything I’ve seen has been either too far apart or too close together – this seems just right!

I had no idea, so I had to go measure. LOL! Mine are spaced 7″ apart, and it works just great!
