Is the sugar really necessary? It seems to me that this punch would be super sweet just with the ice cream and soda?

I’ve never made it without the sugar, but you could definitely give it a go!

I ran across this recipe looking for a white punch for my daughter’s ’Baby it’s Cold Outside’ baby shower. I love a good sherbet punch and was going to make a lime one but the white fits the theme better. I am going to try this! Can anyone out there that has made this tell me if this tastes as good as the old fashioned lime sherbet punch we had as kids in the 70’s???

I also love the lime sherbet punch, but because I love almond extract, I’m a big fan of this punch as well. To me, the sherbet punch is more refreshing, while this one is more rich and creamy. I hope it’s a hit at your party – and what a fun theme for a baby shower! 🙂

I love almond extract. I want to try it but I am lactose intolerant. We have lactose ice cream. Wondering if I can substitute the milk for Almond or Coconut milk.

I haven’t tried it, but I think either of those should work. I’d boil them down a bit to thicken them like evaporated milk.

If I was still a drinker I would add Pinnacle Whipped Vodka, it taste like vanilla whipped cream! Yum! I’m going to make this for our Christmas Buffet at our apartment complex.

I got mine over 20 years ago, so I don’t think they make the exact same punch bowl, but this one is similar: https://amzn.to/3pTVMgA
It can also be used as a trifle bowl and a serving tray. 🙂

We don’t have Blue Bell ice cream in my neck of the woods, but I’ve heard that it’s amazing. If it has chunks of cookie in it, I don’t think I’d like it in a punch, but that’s a matter of personal preference. You could always try it!

Does the sugar completely dissolve? Mine didn’t, cooked it longer but now it’s getting hard

Yes, the sugar should dissolve, but you don’t want the mixture to turn hard. Your microwave may be heating hotter than mine, so you may just need to let it sit on the counter for a few minutes after you pull it out. The sugar should continue to dissolve that way without starting to cook. And if it has started to turn hard, you can add more water to thin it out before adding it to the punch.

Just a guess here, but I think you will get a better “fizz” if the soda is really ice cold.

This was so good! Loved that it was simple not a 15 ingredient 4 hour long punch. Still had a little milk because we are definitely milk consumers since we are ranchers lol. (Which I agree milk is very important and highly villainized). Will definitely add this into our punch rotation! Thanks for a great recipe

I would take some of the punch mixture and freeze it in ice cube trays before adding the ice cream and 7-up. Add the frozen punch cubes when you serve it. That should keep it cold without watering it down. 🙂

Hi. I just wanted to clarify if you’re using an actual half gallon of ice cream or the 48oz in the grocery store (that used to actually be a half gallon). I want to make this next week and don’t want to screw it up. 🙂

Hi, when I was going to grammar school back in 1956, my mom used to make this for our thermos on special days, or just for fun. She would put a drop of food coloring in also. But we used plain milk, a little sugar, vanilla extract, just a little, and stir or. Shake..we called it DELICIOUS…when leer we added ice cream, and the soda, usually Bubble-up or 7-up….
    Thanks for the memories…❤️????????

If you use the artificial almond flavoring you should be fine. You can substitute vanilla, but the flavor will be totally different, and not nearly as delicious.
