These cute black cat cookies are such a fun Halloween dessert, and kids of all ages love them! You don’t need a cat cookie cutter or even a rolling pin – they are so easy!

A PERFECT HALLOWEEN TREAT FOR KIDS!
This is a great recipe to make with kids because there are lots of things they can do.
Of course they love cracking eggs and dumping ingredients into the bowl. They can also roll the dough into balls and roll them in sugar. My kids always loved making the whiskers.
The fun part is decorating them. Just make sure you have an older child add the eyes and noses, because you have to do it as soon as you pull them out of the oven, and the pan will still be very hot.
If you have teens, be prepared for Picasso cats with three eyes and crooked noses. They love to get creative!
Now run to the grocery store for some candies, come home, and make a Halloween memory with your kiddos! 🙂
How to make easy black cat cookies:
- PREP – Line baking sheets with parchment or silicone liners. Preheat your oven to 350°.
- WET INGREDIENTS – In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and sugar with an electric mixer for 2-3 minutes. Beat in the eggs and vanilla.
- DRY INGREDIENTS – In a separate bowl, whisk flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Stir the flour mixture into the wet ingredients.
- FORM – Roll the dough into 1 1/2-inch dough balls. Place three inches apart on the baking sheet. Dip a glass in sugar and flatten to about 1/4 inch thick. Pinch the tops of the cookies to form ears, then use a fork to make indentations for whiskers.

- BAKE – Bake for 8-10 minutes at 350°. To make cat faces, immediately press candy corns and M&M’s on top of each cookie. If needed, you can deepen the whisker indentations with a fork.

VARIATIONS:
- In place of M&M’s, you can use Skittles or red cinnamon candy for the cat noses.
- Large chocolate chips or jumbo candy eyes can be used instead of candy corns to make the cat’s eyes.
- You can add the candies before baking, but I find that the M&M’s crack, and the candy corn can melt.
- If you are worried that the candies will fall off, you can use royal icing or melted chocolate to adhere them.

Those are so cute! I made your Frankenstein Cookies except on Bev’s Brownies for a Halloween party we went to this weekend, and had several people ask for the recipe. I just can’t quit my sugar/chocolate addiction.
