How To Make Pancakes the Same Size

Ever wondered how to make all your pancakes the same size? I’ve been making pancakes for over 20 years, and seriously, I don’t know why I didn’t think of this idea before. It was kind of a duh moment when I figured it out.

Usually when I make pancakes, I just whip them up in a large bowl that has a spout on the side for pouring. Then I proceed to pour the batter onto the hot griddle. And every single time, I screw up and end up with at least one ginormous pancake that is hard to flip without breaking or flipping batter everywhere and causing me to swear. Every time.how-to-make-pancakes, tip

Then a few weeks ago I happened to make pancakes, and the thought entered my head “why don’t I try using the ice cream scoop like I do when I fill my muffin pans?”

So I tried it. And it was awesome! Every pancake turn out the same size. Which makes for much prettier stacks. Not essential for family breakfast, but helpful if you have to take photos of all of your food. 🙂

Not only that, but if you need to, you can use the back of the scoop to coax any stubborn batter into a perfect circle. Perfectly shaped pancakes every time!

And if you’re looking for an awesome pancake recipe, try my Buttermilk Pancakes, or Banana Pecan Pancakes. Mmmmm.

That’s a great idea if you want pancakes the same size, then you can freeze them and pop them in the toaster later.

Another fantastic idea!! I had to pin this one too! I usually break out my 1/4 cup and use that, but still don’t always end up with even pancakes. I have at least 4 different size scoops for cupcakes and other things… I think pancakes will be on the menu for dinner tomorrow night! ๐Ÿ˜€
