After a long winter, I love pulling out all my spring decorations! Not only do the pretty colors make me happy, but I feel like I can leave them up for several weeks. It’s not like Christmas decorations that people notice if you leave up past the middle of January. LOL! I tackled my little bookcase shelf first, then next up I will work on my DIY shelves, and then my mantel. Since I’m still working on staining my oak banister, I work in between coats of stain.
I kept things pretty simple, with just a few pops of color against the white beadboard. You probably recognize the spring book page banner sign that I posted last week. It is made with a frame that I picked up at the thrift store and painted. I love it, so it took center stage.
I found the silver bucket at the dollar spot at Target, and filled it with some greenery from Ikea. I wrapped some fabric covered books in a colored napkin to add a little color, and added a little bird from Tai Pan Trading. My boys give me a hard time about the number of birds I use in my decor, but I just love them!
The blue lantern is also from Tai Pan Trading, and the green ball I picked up on clearance at a local furniture store. And that completes my spring bookcase!
What are your favorite spring decorating ideas?
Do you go bold, or do you stick with softer colors like I did?
