Triple Chocolate Chip Cookies . . . loaded with three different kinds of chocolate chips, these soft and chewy cookies are sure to satisfy any chocolate craving!

I don’t know about you, but when I am in the mood for chocolate, nothing else will do the trick. It has to be chocolate! These cookies are perfect for those times when you just need a chocolate fix.

They have three kinds of chocolate chips – milk chocolate, semi-sweet chocolate, and white chocolate. So pretty much all your chocolate bases are covered!

These cookies freeze well, so you can store extras in the freezer in ziplock bags for times when you need chocolate ASAP. 🙂

They are slightly crispy on the outside, but soft and chewy on the inside. They are best warm from the oven when the chocolate is all soft and gooey. Seriously amazing cookies people!

How to make triple chocolate cookies:

  1. PREP – Soften your butter, preferably on the counter. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees. Line a baking sheet with a silicone liner, or spray with cooking spray.
  2. CREAM –  Beat the butter, sugars, and cocoa at medium speed for 2-3 minutes, then beat in the eggs and vanilla.
  3. DRY INGREDIENTS – Add the flour, soda, and salt to the wet ingredients with the chocolate chips. Stir until there are no streaks of flour.
  4. FORM – Use a cookie scoop to portion the dough, then roll into balls. Place cookie dough balls about 2 inches apart on a lined cookie sheet.
  5. BAKE – Bake at 375° for about 8 minutes. As soon as they come out of the oven, press a few chocolate chips on top of each cookies. process shots - how to make pretty bakery style cookies

If you want your cookies to have a chewy center, don’t overbake them!

They have so much chocolate flavor, they pretty much demand to be served with a glass of cold milk!

What are some variations of triple chocolate cookies?

  • Switch up the type of chocolate chips. You could use some mint chips, peanut butter chips, cinnamon chips, or even some chocolate chunks.
  • For a tasty crunch, add a cup of toasted chopped pecans, walnuts, or coconut flakes.
  • Sprinkle a bit of flaky sea salt on top of the cookies either before or after baking.

Equipment

  • Cuisinart Hand Mixer
  • Amazon Basics Silicone Baking Mat, Pack of 2, 16.5″ x 11.6″
  • Cookie Scoop Set

Ingredients

  • 1 cup salted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ⅔ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 ½ cups all purpose flour
  • 1 ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¾ cup white chocolate chips
  • ¾ cup milk chocolate chips
  • ¾ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (or dark chocolate chips)

Instructions

  • Line cookie sheets with silicone liners or parchment paper. Preheat your oven to 375°.
  • In a large bowl, combine the butter, sugars, and cocoa powder. Beat with an electric mixer for 2-3 minutes. Beat in the eggs and vanilla.
  • Add the flour, baking soda, and salt. Stir into the creamed mixture with chocolate chips. (I like to set aside some of the chocolate chips to press on top of the cookies.)
  • Scoop dough by tablespoonfuls and roll into balls. Place about 2 inches apart on prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake at 375° for about 8 minutes, or until the center is barely set. Immediately press a few chips into the top of each cookie.
  • Transfer to a cooling rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For pretty, bakery style cookies, either reserve some chocolate chips, (or use extra chocolate chips) and press a few on top of each cookie as soon as it comes out of the oven.
  • Don’t overbake the cookies, or they won’t be soft and fudgy. They may not appear quite done, but they will continue to cook after you remove them from the oven.
  • I used a 1 1/2 tablespoon scoop, which is about an ounce. If your cookie dough balls or larger or smaller, you will need to adjust the baking time.
  • Cookies can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week, or you can freeze them for 5-6 months.
