Peanut Butter Truffle Brownies

Chocolate. Peanut Butter. Together. Does it get much better?
I cannot make these brownies very often, because the peanut butter chocolate combination is very hard for me to resist, in any form. I am magnetically drawn to these brownies, and they are magnetically drawn to my hips. ;)

So I only make them when I need to take a treat somewhere. They are always a hit. The brownie layer is nice and moist, and the peanut butter truffle layer is amazing. You could just eat it alone and be happy. But paired with the brownie and dark chocolate drizzle on top, it is a small slice of heaven on earth.

Brownie Layer:
3 cups sugar
3 cups flour
3/4-1 cup cocoa
1 1/2 tsp salt
6 eggs
1 1/2 cups oil
3/4 cup milk
Combine all ingredients in order listed and mix till smooth. Pour into a well greased 15×10" jelly roll pan. Bake at 350 for about 20-25 minutes. Cool completely.

Truffle Layer:
1/4 cup soft butter
1 cup peanut butter
3 cups powdered sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
5-6 Tbsp milk
Topping:
1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
2-3 Tbsp vegetable oil

Beat butter and peanut butter together. Add powdered sugar, salt, vanilla, and enough milk till mixture is creamy. It will be thicker than regular frosting. You can kind of spread and pat it onto the top of the brownies with the back of a spoon.
For the topping, combine 2 Tbsp of the oil and the chips in a small glass bowl. Microwave at 50% power till melted, stirring often. Add more oil if needed. Drizzle over the top of the brownies.

Can you bake them in a 9×13? or 2 9x13s? That is the largest dish my oven will fit. Seriously. Oh how I miss the states! I'm going to have to make these to make me not so homesick. :)

  11. I made these and they didn't come out at all like I wanted. The brownie wasn't moist, nor sweet. It was like a sweet bread consistency. I made them twice.

    • Hmmm, I wonder why. I use the brownie recipe all the time with different toppings, and I always get recipe requests. Did you follow the recipe exactly?

I have also added the peanut butter topping to different brownies, so you could use your favorite recipe instead, or even a box mix.

Sorry to hear they didn't turn out for you, I know that's always a bummer.

  12. Oh my. Those look so decadently fabulous. I think I gained five pounds from reading the recipe!

  13. Those look wonderful–must try!

  14. I love your site! Your photo is awesome. And this recipe? Nothing better than PB and Chocolate. Anxious to try this.

  15. I am making these today for a Super Bowl party. According to the first batch, they are delicious. Love your blog and recipes!
