Black and White Halloween Display

I am not much of a “spooky” Halloween decorator. I usually stick with pumpkins, cute witches and black cats, candy corn, etc. But as my boys have gotten older, they have requested that our Halloween decor not be quite so “cute”. So I stepped out on a limb this year.

No blood and gore, that would be a little too much of a step, and I don’t want to actually fall off the limb. LOL. I decided to go with a classic black and white theme in my entry way. The skulls, spiders, and crows make it a little creepy, but not so creepy that it gives me the heebie jeebies.

I am planning on making a different wreath, but this one will have to do for now, because I am smack dab in the middle of painting our kitchen cabinets. Tons of work, but I am giddy about how they are turning out so far. Anywhoo. . .

And lest you think everything at my house is sunshine and roses, here’s a little reality check:
black-and-white-halloween-displayYep, my 17 month old totally busted out one of the panels on my table.
Don’t worry, it’s not glass, so the only injury sustained was to the poor table.
Hopefully I can find the time to get it replaced before Halloween is actually here.
If not, maybe I should just fill it with some fake spiderwebs. 😉

Kara, I love your Halloween decor! I really think you found that middle place you were looking for between cutesy and gore. I’m so impressed you put all of this together while in the process of painting kitchen cabinets–you’re amazing! I can’t wait to see what you’ve done!
