Heart Shaped Brownie Bites . . . these fun and easy chocolate treats are perfect for Valentine’s Day. No one can resist them!

Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite holidays to make treats for. I love coming up with recipes that involve chocolate, cherries, and heart shapes. I’ve been having fun in the kitchen the last few days!

These little brownie bites turned out so pretty, but the best part is how yummy they are. Who knew something as simple as dipping a brownie in white chocolate would end up so delicious?

I used a very simple one bowl brownie recipe that I’ve had for decades. I got it from my best friend from high school, Melanie. They are moist and chewy, and so easy to throw together that it’s almost scary. You can use your favorite brownie recipe if you prefer, or simply use a brownie mix.

Doesn’t this just look amazing? I’m not going to tell you how many I actually ate. Suffice it to say that it was more than a couple.

If you are serving them for a party, they look really cute placed inside decorative cupcake liners.

Handy supplies for making brownie bites:

Heart shaped cookie cutters – I have this set and I used the smallest heart. You could of course make yours bigger if you want.

Cooling Rack – I like to place my brownie hearts on a cooling rack and carefully pour the melted almond bark over the top of them. I found it easier than dipping them. The holes in the rack allow the excess chocolate to drip down instead of pooling at the bottom of the hearts.

Non-stick spray – After I line my pan with foil, I spray the foil with non stick spray. I also recommend spraying the cooling rack so that the hearts are easier to remove after the chocolate sets up.

These cute little brownie bites are perfect for Valentine's Day!

Prep Time 30 minutes
Cook Time 25 minutes
Total Time 55 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, melted
  • 2/3 cup cocoa
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 20 ounces white almond bark for dipping
  • 1/2 cup semi sweet chocolate for drizzle

Instructions

  1. Whisk together melted butter and cocoa till smooth. Whisk in sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Stir in flour and salt.
  2. Line a 9×13″ pan with foil, leaving extra foil on the ends to help lift out the brownies later. Spray the foil with non-stick cooking spray. Pour batter into the pan and spread evenly. Bake at 350° for about 25 minutes. Cool completely.
  3. To make brownie bites, use the foil to lift out the cooled brownies. Use a small heart shaped cookie cutter to cut the brownies. You will have a lot of extra scraps leftover. Try not to eat all of them.
  4. Chop the almond bark, then place in a small glass bowl. Melt at 50% power in the microwave, stirring every 30-60 seconds.
  5. Spray a cooling rack with cooking spray. Place the brownie hearts on the cooling rack and place it over over a cutting board. (The cutting board will catch the dripping chocolate. Then just carefully spoon the melted chocolate over a few of the hearts, spreading it till it runs over the sides.
  6. Tip: Tapping the cooling rack against the counter helps the chocolate run down more quickly and smoothly.
  7. Work with just a few at a time, and if there is an edge on one of the hearts that doesn’t get covered, just add more chocolate before it starts to set up.
  8. After the white chocolate is set, melt the semi-sweet chocolate. I put a handful of chocolate chips in a small ziplock bag and melted them in the microwave at 50% power. Then I snipped off a small corner of the bag and drizzled the chocolate over the hearts.

Hi, I’m the same Christine that commented on Feb. 4. I went ahead and made these with the chocolate chips, and they turned out fabulous! Only had to add three minutes to the time. If you’d like to see how they turned out, here’s a blog link. Thanks so much for sharing this recipe with us!

Wanting to make these for my family for Valentine’s Day – what is the yield? Also, I’m thinking about adding chocolate chips to the mix. How would you suggest I alter the cooking time to accommodate this change? Thanks for sharing – your brownie bites look way too cute!

Yum! These look good. They look like the Little Debbie cakes I like to buy at Valentine’s Day… but more delicious because it’s a brownie.
