This Lipton onion burger recipe makes some of the best burgers ever! The onion soup mix packs a punch, and an egg yolk adds a rich flavor to the burger.

Why you’ll love this Lipton onion burgers recipe:

  • It’s so easy to make that dinner can be ready in about 20 minutes. Perfect for busy nights!
  • The seasoning is mixed into the ground beef, so every bite tastes amazing.
  • Egg yolk is a secret ingredient that not only helps bind the burgers together so they are easier to flip, it gives them a great rich flavor.
  • If you need to feed a crowd, the recipe is easily doubled or tripled.
  • Even picky eaters love a tasty burger!

HOW TO MAKE LIPTON ONION SOUP BURGERS

  1. COMBINE – In a large mixing bowl, gently mix together the ground beef, dry soup mix, water, and egg yolk.

  2. FORM – Divide into equal portions and form four patties. Make a divot in the middle of each one.
  3. COOK – Cook over medium heat in a hot skillet (or gas grill) for 4-5 minutes per side.
If desired, add a slice of cheese to the top of each burger during the last minute and cover the skillet with a lid. process shots -how to make onion soup mix burgers
  4. SERVE – Place on buns and add mayo, ketchup, and your favorite toppings. Enjoy!

You can store leftover burgers, unassembled, in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. Place cooled patties in an airtight container or wrap them in plastic wrap.

Reheat the patties in a skillet over low heat, in the microwave, or in an air fryer, then assemble your burgers.

PRO TIPS:

  • To prevent the burgers from curling up on the edges as they cook, make an indentation in the middle of each patty. I like to use the back of a tablespoon, but you can use your thumb.
  • For juicy burgers, just cook them until they are medium rare, or no more than 135°.
  • If you aren’t sure how to tell if your burgers are done, use a meat thermometer and this meat temperature chart.
  • Let the cooked patties sit for 3-4 minutes before serving to prevent the juice from leaking out. (I find this gives everyone just the right amount of time to prep their bun and add toppings.)

Can I double the recipe?

Yes, this recipe can easily be doubled to make 8 burgers. You will need a full packet of onion soup mix.

VARIATIONS:

  • Use Worcestershire sauce or beef broth instead of water.
  • We also enjoy these homemade burgers with a bit of black pepper added to the beef mixture or sprinkled on the patties.
  • Instead of cheddar, you can use slices of American cheese, pepper jack, gruyere cheese, swiss cheese, or any cheese that melts well.
  • BBQ sauce is also tasty in place of the ketchup or mayo.

WHAT TO SERVE WITH BURGERS:

  • You can’t go wrong with baked french fries, tater tots, or potato salad.
  • To balance out the meal with healthy veggies, add broccoli craisin bacon salad, or green beans almondine.
  • Fresh fruit like watermelon is extra refreshing on a hot day.

  • 4 slices tomato

  • Heat a skillet to medium or medium-high heat. Cook the burgers for 3-5 minutes per side.
