I love decorating with book pages, and this Easter Egg Banner is a favorite spring decoration. So easy, but so cute hanging on a mantel or shelf!
I love decorating with banners all year round. They are a perfect way to add a pop of color and some fun texture to any space. I needed something to hang across the front of my mantel, so I knew I needed to whip up an Easter banner.
I actually saw several book page banners with a St. Patrick’s theme that I just loved. But I didn’t get one made in time. I decided that instead I would use the same idea but change it up for Easter. Instead of just doing flat Easter eggs, I made them 3D.
I am pretty much giddy with how it turned out. And I can’t tell you how much I am loving having a white mantel— So glad I finally painted it!
Here it is all spruced up for Easter.
This banner was super easy. Wanna make one yourself?
Easter Egg Banner Instructions
Supplies:
-Free printable pattern (see link below)
-Pencil
-Book pages
-Scraps of colored paper
–Scissors
–Ink pad (0ptional)
–Twine or yarn
–Hot glue gun, glue sticks
1-Print out the pattern. Trace the banner onto book pages, and the eggs onto colored paper. Make sure you cut two of each egg color.
2-Cut out all the pieces and ink the edges if desired. (You don’t need to ink the top of the banner pieces yet.)
3-For the 3-D eggs, fold the top piece in half and run a tiny bead of hot glue down the fold. Quickly glue it to the center of the bottom egg.
4-Fold over the the top 1/2″ of each of the banner pieces and ink the folded edge. Glue an egg in the center of each piece.
5-Now it’s time to assemble your banner! Cut your piece of twine the length you need it. Arrange the banner pieces evenly along the twine. Then apply hot glue to the inside of the top fold and stick the twine inside. Press it closed for a few seconds till the glue dries.
6-Hang up your darling Easter banner, then stand back and admire it. 🙂

I love this banner! I’ve been looking for Easter decor that isn’t cheesy. This is perfect: cute yet classy! I’m not a huge scrapbooker, so how do you ink the edges? Also, did you use brown ink?
Aw, thanks Heidi! Yes, I did use brown ink. I just hold the paper in one hand and with the ink in the other I brush the ink pad down on the paper at an angle. Kinda hard to explain, but it really is easy. š

Hi Kara!
I love your banner. I made one like this for st. Patrick’s day with clovers and the word lucky on it. I like it but think my mantel will be so plain once I take it down so I have been trying to figure out one for easter to replace it! I don’t have to look any farther! Can’t wait to get in my craft room and make this. Thanks for the idea.
