If you love the flavor of the burgers from the iconic West Coast chain, this easy In-N-Out sauce recipe is about to become your new favorite condiment! Creamy, tangy, and slightly sweet, this homemade burger sauce will make you feel like you’re eating at the restaurant.
The best part? You can make this copycat sauce in just minutes using simple pantry ingredients.

In my opinion, the sauce can either make or break a burger. And I’m a big fan of the sauce at In-n-Out. No ketchup and mustard for me, give me a creamy, tangy sauce and I’m happy. Add a bit of crunch from pickles, and it’s even better!
My daughter actually brought this recipe home from a friend’s house, and I’d say she makes it at least twice a month to eat with potatoes. Once the rest of us tried it, it became a staple at our house!
Whether you’re building burgers at home, dipping fries, or making sandwiches, this sauce adds the perfect fast-food flavor to any meal.

What Is In N Out Sauce?
The famous In-N-Out burger spread is similar to a Thousand Island dressing, but less sweet and not quite as thick. It combines creamy mayonnaise, ketchup, sweet relish, vinegar, and sugar for a tangy, savory flavor that pairs perfectly with burgers and fries. It’s an easy recipe you’ll make over and over again!
Why You’ll Love This In-N-Out Sauce Recipe
- Quick and easy to make using ingredients you probably already have on hand

How to Make In-N-Out Sauce

- Either serve immediately, or chill for 30 minutes to let the flavors meld together.

VARIATIONS:

- For a spicy kick, add sriracha sauce or red pepper flakes – my daughter’s favorite!
- You can use finely chopped dill pickles or dill pickle relish, but the sauce will not have the same sweet, tangy flavor.

Copycat In-N-Out Sauce Recipe
Ingredients
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- 3 Tbsp ketchup
- 2 Tbsp sweet pickle relish
- ½ tsp white vinegar
- 2 tsp sugar
Instructions
- Combine all of the ingredients in a small bowl. Stir or whisk until completely blended.
- Serve immediately, or cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes to allow the flavors to blend. (We think it's even better the next day!)
Notes
- I recommend using plain mayo. Avocado oil mayo, lowfat mayo, and flavored mayo don’t give the same authentic flavor.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
- 1/2 teaspoon of mustard can be used in place of the vinegar
