Product Review-Purdy Paintbrushes

A few weeks ago I was contacted by a member of the Purdy Paintbrush marketing team and was asked if I’d like to do a review of one of their paint kits. I was thrilled for two reasons. One-I’m redecorating our main floor, and I’m planning on doing a lot of painting. Two-I already own and love a 1 1/2″ Purdy brush, and I’ve been wanting a bigger one for awhile now.
They sent me a paint kit that includes a 2 1/2″ angled brush, and a 6 in 1 painters tool. Perfect!

diy-painting-tip I decided to tackle the most abused baseboard in our house. It’s right off the entry, and with four boys, it takes a beating. I can’t believe I’m showing this to you.
Brace yourselves.
diy-painting-tipI know, it’s beyond horrific.

But after a good scrubbing and a couple coats of paint, it looks much better.
diy-painting-tipPlease ignore the spots on the walls. They need to be re-painted too. I’ll get to it. Eventually.

Wanna see another fun project I did using my Purdy brush?  Last year, I used my 1 1/2″  brush to paint my $20 Craigslist entry table. It turned out fantastic if I do say so myself.  😉

Here’s why I love my Purdy paint brushes:

-They leave a nice smooth finish that is free of streaks.
-It is much easier to paint a straight edge with these high quality angled paintbrush than it is with a cheapo brand.
-They are very well constructed and the bristles are firmly attached. When I used to use cheap brushes, the bristles would fall off on my paint job. Very frustrating! That has never happened with my Purdy brush.
-They last a long time. I’ve had my first one for almost 10 years, and it still works like a charm.

I also used the paint tool, and liked it as well. I used the small edge to open my paint can, and when I was finished I used the handle to pound it back on. I thought it was handy to have one tool replacing my screwdriver and hammer.

Bottom line, I highly, highly recommend Purdy paint brushes. I will never buy a cheap brush again. If all you’ve ever used is the cheapest brush at the store, I promise you will notice a difference if you try one of these awesome brushes.

I only use Purdy brushes! I am always painting and repainting in our house. With 5 kids it’s better to just put new paint on! Plus with our new addition on the house there’s a lot of paint going on all of those walls. I wouldn’t trust any other brush! My dad painted for years and years and taught me how to. You get the finish you want by chosing the Purdy brushes. We actually had a carpenter come out to put up our baseboards and things. He met me at Lowe’s to buy what was needed. He was looking at the cheap brushes! I was like no, we’ll use the Purdy brushes to paint with. He had a helper and I was horrified when I saw that they had taken my BIG brush and CUT IT!!!! Oh, my husband knew you don’t mess w/Angie’s Purdy brushes! I was so mad!!! Purdy is in very good standing in our house! :0)

A good brush makes all the difference. My old faithful brush wasn’t a Purdy but it was another good quality brush. I had it for years and it finally gave out. Since then I’ve tried other brushes and found they just don’t match up. I’ll have to give Purdy a try. Great job on the entry table too by the way.

I am with you on the Purdy brushes. I love them. Anytime we paint something at my house, everyone knows to stay away from my two favorite brushes. They are both Purdy brushes and have seen me through lots of painting projects. I won’t buy any other brand. BTW, love the Fall decor!

I am super jealous of your entry table! Beautiful! I’m about to start some fall decorating myself. Your pumpkins and leaves look so pretty!

I just have to say, Have you tried “magic erasers” yet. All I can say is Mr. Clean is a genius. If you have a good coating of paint (like I did at my last house–but my jerk painter only painted one coat in my new house-so they take off to much paint here.) Then they will remove those black marks with a little scrubbing. (not the really really bad ones, but almost all of them) They made it so I could touch up our paint in our house we sold without needing to repaint. Anywho give them a try I LOVE them. They take crayon off walls and they do wonders. They don’t really have chemicals like some people claim, they are just magical little scrubbers that remove stuff you’d never imagine they could.

Agreed Magic erasers are my magic friend!
And I’ve always looked and touched the purdy displays at the store and never actually bought one, gonna have to try it… unless I win one hehehe
