How to make cheesy sausage biscuits:
- SAUSAGE – In a non-stick skillet, brown the sausage and drain off excess fat. Chill until cold.
- DRY INGREDIENTS – Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar. Grate in the cold butter; stir.

- COMBINE – Use a wooden spoon to stir the sausage and cheese into the flour mixture. Add the buttermilk and gently stir together until the dough barely comes together. Press together.

- FORM – On a floured surface, use your hands or a rolling pin to press the biscuit dough into a 8×10 inch rectangle. Cut into 12 squares.

Chill biscuits while you preheat your oven to 425 degrees; spray a cookie sheet with cooking spray. - BAKE – Place the biscuits on the prepared baking sheet about an inch apart. Bake for 18-22 minutes or until golden brown.

If desired, brush the tops of the biscuits with butter.

Cheddar Sausage Biscuit Recipe
Homemade biscuits loaded with flavorful sausage and chunks of melted cheddar cheese. Trust me, the whole family will devour them!

Ingredients
- 1 pound pork breakfast sausage (I use Jimmy Dean.)
- 3 cups all purpose flour
- 1 Tbsp baking powder
- ½ tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 Tbsp sugar
- ½ cup cold salted butter
- 1 cup diced cheddar cheese (about 5 ounces)
- 1 cup + 2 Tbsp cold buttermilk
Instructions
- Cook the sausage in a large skillet over medium high heat until completely browned and broken in pieces. Drain off excess fat. Transfer to a plate and freeze for 20-30 minutes, or until cold.
- Stir together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar in a large bowl. Grate in the butter and stir until the butter is coated.
- Stir in the the cold sausage and cheese. Add the buttermilk and stir until barely combined. Press together, then dump out onto a lightly floured counter.
- Press into an 8×10 inch rectangle. Cut into 12 pieces with a long, sharp knife.
- Preheat your oven to 425 degrees. Chill biscuits until oven is ready, then place about an inch apart on a lightly greased cookie sheet.
- Bake biscuits at 425° for 18-22 minutes, or until golden brown on the top and bottom. If desired, brush the tops with melted butter.
- Serve hot or warm.
Notes
-Store leftover biscuits in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. Reheat in the microwave or air fryer. Or wrap in foil and place in a cold oven. Turn the heat to 300 degrees. When the oven is hot, they will be ready. You can also freeze them for 3 months.
