Even if you don’t have a gluten intolerance, you will love this Gluten Free Breakfast Pizza! It is hearty and delicious!

slice of gluten free breakfast pizza with sausage

While searching through one of my old cookbooks, I found a recipe for breakfast pizza that started with a hash brown crust.  I was intrigued, and knew I had to give it a try. Guys, this stuff is delicious!

We don’t even have anyone in the family on a gluten-free diet, but I make this breakfast pizza often. It is similar to the breakfast hash that my family adores, but in pizza form. We all love it!

How to make gluten free breakfast pizza with hashbrown crust

  1. PREP – Defrost the hashbrowns. Spread the bottom and sides of a 10″ tart pan with soft butter. Preheat your oven to 450°.
  2. CRUST – Beat the egg in a mixing bowl, then stir in the hash browns, salt, and pepper.
Press very firmly into the bottom and up the sides of the prepared pan. Bake at 450° for about 20 minutes, or until starting to brown. browning hashbrown crust for breakfast pizza
  3. TOPPINGS – While crust is baking, brown the sausage in a non-stick skillet. Drain and set aside. Beat the eggs and salt, cook over medium heat in the same skillet.
  4. BAKE – Remove the crust from the oven and spread the scrambled eggs and sausage evenly over the crust. Sprinkle the grated cheese over the top.
Bake for another 5-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted.
  5. SERVE – Sprinkle sliced green onions over the top, then cut into wedges. Serve hot.

You can brown the sausage and bake the crust ahead of time, making it really easy to throw together in the morning. Perfect for Christmas breakfast, or brunch any time of year!

This gluten free breakfast pizza uses hash browns for a crust. A delicious twist on traditional breakfast pizza, even if you can have wheat!

VARIATIONS AND PRO TIPS:

  • You can add diced green or red bell peppers with the sausage.
  • Feel free to use your favorite cheese. Mozzarella, colby jack, and even pepper jack are all tasty.
  • If you don’t have a tart pan, you can use a pie dish. The crust will be a little thicker, so it may take longer to brown.
  • In place of the sausage, you can use bacon or ham.

This recipe was so good!! We did add more of a cheese sauce then just the shredded cheese. But loved the base recipe.
