You can whip up a batch of these English muffin pizzas faster than you can bake frozen pizzas. Let everyone add their own toppings and even picky eaters will clean their plates!

Serve with a simple salad and corn on the cob or fruit salad for an easy meal that will have the whole family running to the dinner table.

When you’re looking for a quick meal that everyone can agree on, this English muffin pizza recipe is perfect!

You can even freeze them for a quick snack or easy lunch on a hectic day.

When my kids were little, pizza night was a tradition at our house. Sometimes we’d order delivery, but sometimes I’d make the dough and my husband or one of my older kids would make the sauce.

Then we’d all gather around the counter and add our own favorite toppings. Such fun memories!

These easy pizzas are even faster than the ones I used to make. Cooking is a great way to bring people together, so go make some memories with your kids!

How to make the best English muffin pizzas

  1. PREP –  Turn your oven on to “broil”. Split the English muffins in half and arrange them in a single layer on a cookie sheet.
  2. TOAST –  Brush each muffin half with olive oil and sprinkle with garlic salt. Broil for 1-2 minutes, then turn the oven to 400°. how to prep English muffins for pizza
  3. TOPPINGS –  Top the toasted English muffins with about a tablespoon of sauce, then add the cheese and toppings. (I like to put out a variety of toppings and let everyone add their own.) prep photos of English muffin pizza recipe
  4. BAKE – Return to the oven and bake for 5-8 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly.

Make ahead instructions:

The crusts can be prepared in the morning or the day before and stored at room temperature until you are ready to assemble.

You can also prep the pizzas as directed, then just cover the cookie sheet with foil or plastic wrap. You can refrigerate them for up to two days before baking. Because they are cold, you will need to increase the cooking time.

To freeze the unbaked pizzas, wrap them individually in plastic wrap then transfer to a heavy duty freezer bag. You can freeze them for up to 3 months. You can bake them frozen, it will take about 10-12 minutes.

What temperature do you cook English Muffin Pizzas at in the oven?

I find that 400° Fahrenheit is the perfect temperature. It’s hot enough that the pizza cooks quickly, but not so hot that the edges burn before the middle is warm.

ENGLISH MUFFIN PIZZA RECIPE TIPS AND VARIATIONS:

  • For the best flavor and texture, don’t skip the first step. Broiling the crust with oil and garlic salt really does make a difference!
  • We love this homemade pizza sauce made with tomato sauce, but you can use your favorite pizza sauce recipe or buy a jar from the grocery store. If you’re really in a pinch, you can use marinara sauce.
  • If you can find the mini pepperonis, they are so much fun for this recipe!
  • Sprinkling the sauce with a bit of parmesan cheese before adding the mozzarella is tasty.
  • Get creative! Use BBQ sauce with shredded chicken and bell peppers. Or try ranch dressing with chicken, bacon, a bit of cheddar cheese, and green onions.
  • For healthier pizzas, use whole wheat English muffins, low fat cheese, and chopped veggies or ham.

Equipment

  • Akamino Cheese Grater with Food Storage Container & Lid
  • Rimmed Cookie Sheets (Half sheet pans)
  • OXO Good Grips Silicone Pastry Brush

Ingredients

  • 4 English muffins split in half
  • 1 ½ tsp olive oil
  • ⅛ tsp garlic salt or kosher salt
  • ½ cup pizza sauce
  • 3 ounces mozzarella cheese shredded (about a cup)
  • 24 pepperoni slices

Instructions

  • Set your oven to broil. Separate the English muffins and place them cut side up on a sheet pan. (For easy clean-up, you can line the pan with aluminum foil.)
  • Brush olive oil on the English muffin halves and sprinkle with salt.
  • Broil for 1-2 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Turn the oven to 400 degrees F.
  • Spread about a tablespoon of sauce on each muffin. Sprinkle with shredded mozzarella cheese and add pepperoni or your favorite pizza toppings.
  • Bake at 400° for about 5-8 minutes, or until the cheese is melted.

Notes

  • Adding olive oil & garlic salt, then broiling is the secret to the best flavor, so don’t skip that step!
  • Leftover pizzas can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. We like to reheat them in the air fryer or toaster oven.
