This sweet Chex mix recipe is gooey, crunchy, and seriously so addicting! Chex, Golden Grahams, coconut, and almonds covered in a gooey buttery sauce make the perfect treat that no one can resist.

It’s perfect for holiday parties, family gatherings, game day, and even movie night at home. It is a huge hit wherever it is served!

I’ve made several different recipes for snack mix, but this one is my absolute favorite! I can only make it for Christmas when I’ll be handing most of it out as neighbor gifts. I can’t stop eating it – it is soooo good!

I like to use the larger shaved coconut because it isn’t as sweet, and it comes in bigger pieces. But this time around my store was out, so I just used shredded coconut flakes.

HOW TO MAKE SWEET CHEX MIX

  1. DRY INGREDIENTS – In a large bowl, stir together the corn chex, golden grahams, coconut, and sliced almonds; set aside.bowl of cereals, nuts, and coconut
  2. SIMPLE SYRUP – In a medium saucepan, combine corn syrup, sugar, butter, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Boil for 2 minutes, stirring often. Let cool for 2-3 minutes.butter, sugar, and cornstarch cooking in a saucepan
  3. COMBINE – Pour the sauce over the cereal mixture. Stir until completely coated.process shots - making gooey chex mix
  4. COOL – Spread the mixture on waxed paper, parchment, or silicone liners. Let cool. Get ready to taste the best sweet chex mix recipe of your life!

After letting the chex mix cool completely, transfer it into an airtight container. It will keep for about a week, but it’s never lasted that long at my house!

PRO TIPS:

  • You don’t need to stir the glaze mixture constantly, but do stir it often so it doesn’t burn on the bottom.
  • Letting the sauce cool for just a couple minutes helps keep the cereal crisp. When it’s boiling hot, it tends to make the chex soggy.
  • If you use unsalted butter, use 1/8 teaspoon of salt instead of just a pinch.

VARIATIONS:

  • I prefer to used unsweetened shaved coconut, but shredded coconut also works.
  • You can use corn chex instead of rice chex, or even a combination of the two. I don’t love wheat chex for this recipe, but you might.
  • Stir in some salty pretzels broken into bite-sized pieces.
  • For a more caramel-flavored snack mix, use light brown sugar in place of all or part of the white sugar.

A PERFECT SWEET HOLIDAY CHEX MIX

I like whipping up big batches of this homemade chex mix at Christmas time and handing it out for neighbor gifts. Not only is it easy to make, everyone goes crazy for it.

You can’t hand out gifts without a cute tag, so I whipped one up that works not only for this recipe, but for any Chex mix you want to hand out!
