I am happy to report that I (and Rachel) are feeling a little better today. The fountain that I call a nose have started to dry up. The little trolls that have been playing drums inside my head have taken their band somewhere else. And my ears don’t feel like they are being attacked with ice picks. Ah, relief. I’m not 100% yet, but I am starting to feel human again. I apologize to anyone who has e-mailed me in the last few days. I will slowly try to go through my inbox and get back to you. But it’s gonna take me awhile, cuz I’ve got a mountain of laundry to get to.
On Monday I mentioned that I had been painting my old red shelf. Well it took more coats of paint than anything I’ve done before! Two coats of primer, and SEVEN coats of white paint. Holey toledo! I think my family thought that shelf was gonna take up permanent residence on our kitchen counter. 😉 If I’d used a brush, I’m sure it would have been faster, but I wanted a really smooth finish, so I used a sponge brush.
After distressing the edged a bit, I helped my hubbie hang the shelf above the door. I like it so much better white than I did the red!
The plan was to accessorize it this week, but with a head cold/inner ear thing making me dizzy, I didn’t think it would be particularly safe to climb up and down a ladder 63 times. Hopefully next week. . .
Oh, and just in case you were wondering– yes the shelf would have been better two inches longer so those little brackets would hang over the edge of the door trim. When I purchased the shelf, I had looked high and low for a shelf that was long enough. Couldn’t find one anywhere. A similar custom shelf was over $200. When I found this one on clearance for under $50, I decided I could live with the imperfection. 🙂
